This guided tour, led by local archaeologist Theresa Schober, includes a detailed tour of Mound Key and a breath-taking cruise through the Estero Bay.

The Calusa, South Florida's most powerful aboriginal group, controlled a vast area of for Florida by the time the Europeans first hit Florida's shores. Mound Key, in Estero Bay, was the capital of their vast empire and was the first specified location documented on Juan Ponce de León's 1513 journey into the heart of what would become La Florida.

Join us as we explore the island capital the Calusa called Stababa and see where some of the earliest events that predicated of the United States of America happened.

Departing from Fish Tale Marina or Pink Shell Beach Resort in Fort Myers Beach, this tour lasts approximately 3.5 hours and light snacks will be provided. Convenient parking is availble at the boat ramp.
